Every language is built around words that form specific parts of a sentence. That is also what we have in our English Language. There are eight parts of speech in English Language. These include noun, pronoun, verb, adverb, adjective, conjunction preposition and interjection. Each part of speech performs a specific function. For example verbs show action in a sentence whereas adjective specifies quality of a noun in a sentence. Here we wish to throw some light on preposition. In this article we provide answers to questions like what are prepositions. What are its types and what are its few examples. A preposition is a part of speech. A preposition can define as word that shows relationship between a noun and a pronoun. The prepositions are the words that help us to show connectivity between other words in a sentence. Prepositions can be called complex prepositions if they are a group of words such as ‘in front of'. Prepositions along with noun phrases are called phrase prepositions. Some of the prepositions are by, to, as, on, at, or, for, etc. Prepositions are sometimes called joining words. The prepositions are generally placed before pronouns and nouns.
